This class will be at Kendall College of Art and Design. Registration and signup is through the Continuing Studies Department link below:
Painting flora, gourds, leaves and other vegetation in a highly realistic manner using oil or acrylic paint this Fall through Kendall's Adult Continuing Studies program. We will practice accurate color mixing and brush control methods and principles of composition while painting living, moving elusive plants. This class is for all levels (both the beginner to the advanced).
The class will also concentrate on many of the fundamentals of good picture making, from the technical to the conceptual with still life as the subject matter. The class will have lectures and demonstrations focusing on different topics as well as individual feedback while the student paints his or her own botanical still life set up. For those who wish to focus on the simple fundamentals of drawing and painting, there will be a set up consisting of geometric shapes (such as a lemon) & colors to initially learn how to paint a form (lemon, an egg or an apple. etc.). Some of the principles discussed will be composition, accuracy in drawing, color and color theory, understanding form and modeling, edge control, glazing/scumbling techniques, lighting, materials and good studio practice.
